When I first heard that Elaine Chao was selected to be in Donald Trump’s administration for Secretary of Transportation I was transported back in time to Ronald Reagan selecting George H. Bush as his Vice President. Back then, Ronald Reagan held out an olive branch to the “establishment” Republicans that were against Reagan from the get go. The thought was that by doing so perhaps the establishment Republicans would play ball and not be so adversarial.
I am sure that you all know by now that Elaine Chao is Mitch McConnell’s wife. I am sure she is a bright intelligent woman more than capable of doing the job, and would do it well. However, it reeks of a political deal appointment. Donald Trump ran on being an outsider, yet it seemed so insider to select Elaine Chao.
Mitch McConnell is and will be an obstructionist to President Trump. He has already said he would not even consider term limits on Congress as President-Elect talked about during the campaign. Mitch McConnell now is saying that Trump’s plans to reform taxes and give the public and businesses tax cuts must not add on to the deficit. While that is a wise comment, I would like to know why he has passed bills and funded just about every aspect of President Obama’s political agenda without worrying about the deficit.
I do believe Mitch McConnell will be every bit a counter productive adversary to our new President just as much as if Harry Reid was in charge of the Senate. Mitch McConnell is the definition of an insider, he is the definition of an establishment Republican, he is the definition of a RINO. He has proven himself in the past to be against any thinking out of the box, or against the Tea Party members in the Senate, or even Conservative members in the Senate. Just beckon back to his comments and treatment of Ted Cruz.
Was Donald Trump advised he should pick Elaine Chao in the hopes it might persuade Mitch McConnell to play ball? Perhaps. Also Perhaps not. However, we shall see if Mitch McConnell is as passive to a Trump administration as he was with the Democrat administration of President Obama.
I am so pleased and excited of how many women President-elect has chosen so far, and there are more to come. I am not against Elaine Chao because she is a woman. In fact, I hope she does well regardless of my opinion. I am not against Elaine Chao, I am against Mitch McConnell.
Donald Trump has broken all the rules concerning politics, and I for one find it refreshing. The bias press and media will be out to take him down. Democrat politicians are out de-legitimizing his Presidency. Left Wing loons are out to claim every news story that doesn’t agree with their ideology is “Fake News” as they report fake news themselves.
Donald Trump has interesting ideas and just might reverse the damage that President Obama has done to America and the world [Decimating our Military, loss of respect from our allies, inflating our deficit more than all presidents combined, over 93 million American’s out of the work force -the lowest since the 70’s. The slowest growth in our economy with no month in 8 years going over 3% which is the first time in history that has happened. Oh wait he did get one month, last month of November 2016 finally hit 3%]. All this and building a wall, replacing Obamacare, the list goes on and on.
Yes, President Trump will have his work cut out for him. This is why I am so concerned that Mitch McConnell, in my opinion, has no plans to help Donald Trump succeed and bring relief to our country. Who would have thought that a Republican President with a Republican Congress may still get nothing done. To the voters of Kentucky, please do not elect McConnell again when and if he runs for another term.
