It is said that a civilization that does not learn from history is doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again. We see this happening today before our own very eyes. Yet, many have a veil over their eyes where they are too blind to see. No matter how many times Socialism fails throughout history it is always touted as a form of governing that will usher in a new era of utopia. The promise always never materializes. Liberals do not listen to the ways of proper governing for true growth and liberty from our own past.
Listen to the words of the great men who made our country the most successful country in the history of not just the world today, but of all history. America, called the “Great Experiment” is now failing. Not because of what our founding fathers intended, but because of those who did or do not understand what America was and was meant to be. They formed their own idea of what America is suppose to be and can not understand the individual’s rights. They only see a way to govern is by the few, deciding all things for the masses.
So, what did our forefathers say about how America should be. What were their warnings of what to avoid in government. Let us take the words of Benjamin Franklin. Let us compare them to this administration and those recently before. Then ask yourself if your values align with the great men of our history, or do you believe, as Liberals, Democrats, Socialists and this administration does.
“When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.” Think of Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Boehner and Obama himself. The massive debt and rising, yet their spending sprees have no limits. Borrowing from China every three months, and just giving much away to other countries that hate us, including the Muslim Brotherhood. Spending on failed green energy projects, taking from the wealthy to redistribute to all and at the same time using class warfare to convince people it is just. Always thinking of ways to raise your taxes, calling it new revenues in order to fund their never ending appetite for spending.
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither safety nor liberty”. Think of the NSA destroying your right to privacy by data mining everyone’s phones, Internet, etc. even world leaders are angry that they are also targets of the NSA. With the billions, perhaps trillions of records being kept, how many terrorists acts have been caught this way. Some say none, the NSA says a few. Your right to privacy is now gone, and there are more plans to destroy it even further with GPS, Black boxes in cars, license plate scanning to map your every move and history of where you have been. Even your thermostat to be regulated by the government, and so much more.”
“Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become more corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.” How profound to our current history. We live in an era of entitlements. The masses (those that are Liberal) look to government to pay their bills. Government is their salvation, their religion. As the very first speech Obama gave when elected the lady said afterwards “Obama will help me with my car payments!”. Food stamp use nearly doubled since his election. Obamacare charging some people high premiums for the same coverage of those who pay less to redistribute the wealth. The corruption of this administration is forgiven by these people and liberal media, as they want what is theirs (regardless if it comes from those who work hard to get it). Liberty is valued less as they take John F. Kennedy’s famous quote and turn it completely around “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country”.
“Rebellion to Tyrants is obedience to God.” As Obama ushers in Socialism, and Liberalism grows, those that debate this danger: conservatives, the righteous, Tea Party members, etc. are all cast as extremists by those who support Tyranny. The best example of Benjamin Franklin’s quote is Obamacare’s mandate for religious organizations to pay in part of their premiums for contraceptives and drugs to end pregnancies. As religious groups take the government to court on this issue, they are painted as extremists, or perpetuating a war on women. There is a reason why Liberalism, and Socialism (which are really the same thing), do not co-exist with religion well. In the DNC convention in 2012 they booed when voting to put the word God back in their platform.
“Without Freedom of Thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom; and no such thing as public liberty, without Freedom of Speech.” Today, this administration, liberals, and radical Muslims are trying so hard to limit our Freedom of Speech. Senator Schumer himself said Freedom of Speech should be limited! Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) on April 16th introduced a bill that in essence will make hate speech a crime on the Internet, radio, and in public. However, if one persons says something that offends another who may be over sensitive to an opposing political view, that may constitute to that person hate speech, thus shutting down any political freedom of speech. Publicly saying “My religious view is marriage is between a man and woman will be hate speech as the Liberal will claim it to be. Criticize Sharia Law and you are guilty of hate speech to the Muslim. [read about this bill here]. I also offer this quote from Benjamin Franklin on this subject: “Freedom of speech is a principal pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the Constitution of a free society is dissolved, and tyranny is erected on its ruins.”
“I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. In my youth I traveled much, and I observed in different countries, that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.” This is the whole basis of Liberalism vs. Conservatism concerning entitlements. Nancy Pelosi says the more people on food stamps the bigger bang for the buck. 15 trillion dollars spent on the war on poverty since the late 1950’s and under Obama’s reign there are more on poverty today then ever. While helping the poor through charity, church, etc is a fine noble deed, and should be encouraged, it should also be said that government should also help, but not create those addicted to the government. What Benjamin Franklin is saying can be no clearer than the old adage “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. There in lies the governments failure on the war on poverty. We only give them a fish to feed them for a day. We do not teach them to fish. 15 trillion dollars spent on this when our own debt is 17 trillion dollars shows a complete failure. If only that money was spent to teach the poor how to fish by education, career choices, unleashing the private sector to grow and create jobs. There are so many economic policies that are not being enacted in favor of entitlements. Our government will not be happy until not 47% are in need of entitlements, but 100%. Just 5 years ago it was 28%. What will be that number when Obama reaches his last day of his second term?
“Make yourself sheep and wolves will eat you.” I can not read that quote without thinking about Obama’s appeasement to Islam, and the do nothing after a red line is crossed foreign policy failures. Conceding Iran’s nuclear agenda. His dismantling of our military, by means of budget cuts Making religion in the military something to hide. Replacing Christian Chaplains with non-secular and Muslim chaplains. Feminizing our men’s military hats. Mandating no firing at anyone unless they are fired upon us first. Replacing 197 top brass with his those that would favor his ideology. Giving our Internet control away to another country (not yet determined to which country will have the control yet), etc. All making us a laughing stock to other countries that are not friendly to the USA, and having our friends not trust us. The world has never been so unsafe since World War II.
Benjamin Franklin was an amazing man. We think of him solely as the child’s story of flying a kite with a key to discover electricity, or the oven, etc. Yet, this man was one of the greatest thinkers and philosophers of our time. Truly by his words we can see he would be called a conservative today. In my humble opinion, if this great man were to stand here today, he would admonish the policies of this administration, Obama, IRS, NSA, EPA, DOJ, DHS, BLM, today. He would also be called an extremist by the left. Yet, he was so instrumental during the Constitutional Convention. While all argued, he convinced the vast numbers of men who disagreed with each other to pass the Constitution, as not perfect, but the best form of government the world was ever to see. Those today who hold his views as their own are also now the enemy of this administration. Targeted for scrutiny, pegged as extreme, protested by the left. It is time to teach the liberal history. Educate them that their views are NOT our founding fathers views. By articles, media, water cooler conversations, etc. I encourage all to read about our founding fathers and their views. For if the liberal, democrat, does so, they can not deny that what they believe in is by far an abomination of what this country was founded upon, and if they still stand strong against our founding fathers at that time, we are back to where we started from. We are under the rule of tyranny yet again.
God Bless Benjamin Franklin and The United States of America (and all that love our Constitution).
